Bird Photo Galleries

In these bird photo galleries we present a variety of species that were seen well on our birding tours. Although our birding tours are very much concerned with obtaining good views of birds it is also nice to get some good photographs of a variety of species too. In fact if there has been an opportunity to photograph a bird it means that we have enjoyed a good view of it before moving on to search for more target species. This approach to birding allows not only those who join us on our tours to see as many species well but to be able to present the following photo galleries too.

West Papua, November 2025

Despite being a short, survey trip this visit to West Papua turned out to be remarkable for not only the quality and variety of birds seen but for an exciting abundance of birds too. As well as this there were a high number of photographic opportunties which has allowed us to put together this gallery of birds as a taster of what can be seen on our tours to this fantastic destination.

Birds pictured in this photo gallery include Papuan Frogmouth, Magnificent Riflebird, Black Lory, Beach Kingfisher, Lowland Peltops, Blyth’s Hornbill, Black-sided Robin, Large Fig Parrot, Moustached Treeswift, Pink-spotted Fruit Dove, Little Kingfisher, Willie Wagtail and Golden Myna.

Uzbekistan, April 2025

This wonderful country is always exciting both ornithologically and culturally with a diverse set of habitats, landscapes and, of course, birds. Although the prime target was Turkestan Ground Jay, which we enjoyed multiple times and of which we obtained plenty of photos, there was also an exciting supporting cast of species in a good abundance which allowed us to obtain a nice selection of photographs to display here.

Birds pictured in this photo gallery include Red-headed Bunting Indian Golden Oriole, (Hume’s) Lesser Whitethroat, Himalayan Griffon, Grey-necked Bunting, Laughing Dove, Eastern Rock Nuthatch, European Roller, Finsch’s Wheatear, White-tailed Lapwing, Bluethroat, Clamorous Reed Warbler and Turkestan Ground Jay.

Vietnam, March/April 2025

This exciting birding tour of south and central Vietnam resulted in observations of a high number of Vietnamese endemics and unusually good views of many more widespread species that are often hard to observe. An excellent network of hides contributed enormously to this and provided a far greater number of photo opportunities than is normal on most tours, making our Vietnam tour an excellent one for birding and for photography.

Birds pictured in this photo gallery include Red-tailed Laughingthrush, Orange-headed Thrush, Grey-faced Tit-Babbler, Short-tailed Scimitar Babbler, Silver-breasted Broadbill, Scaly-crowned Babbler, Rufous-browed Flycatcher, Bar-bellied Pitta, Laced Woodpecker and Brown Boobook.
